+ Scouting out MMXXIV +

+ A felicitous Sanguinalia and Annual Re-Cycle to you all, and – once more – my thanks to all the autoscribes, rubricists and postlocutors that read this little corner of the noosphere. +

+ As a blog, +Death of a Rubricist+ doesn't have many traditions, so there's no great round-up of things – it's all too easy to let plans get in the way of enjoyment of the hobby. Instead, I thought I'd simply pop up what I've been working on:

+++

+ The Ashes of Armageddon +

+ The inter-continental scrap between Waa-Ghazghkull and the Steel Legion moves to a new scale, as I've been painting up both Salamanders and Goff orks for Epic. +

+ Very pleased with how the Salamanders have come out, and thanks to a bountiful Christmas, I've got rather a lot more to paint up! I've spoken quite a lot about this in the inloads leading up to the new year, so let's have a look at the forces in the other green corner – the orks:

+ These figures are by Wakes Emporium [+noosphericexloadlink embedded+], and are charming little figures with a great variety of poses and unit types. Highly recommended: I had a grin plastered over my mug the whole time I was painting them. +

+ I used a very simple scheme:

_1  Spray prime with Halford camo brown.

_2  Base as you like – I used the same Armageddon scheme as for my Steel Legion, which is essentially lots of drybrush layers of increasingly light yellow-browns.

_3  Pick out the skin with various green paints – the more the merrier.

_4  Paint the weapons black, then pick out some areas with Iron Warriors (the new Boltgun metal).

_5  Wash with Agrax Earthshade

_6  Pick out details – this was essentially adding a couple of highlights to skin here and there, along with various bits like hair, back banners and so forth.

+++

+ The figures scale well with the new Legions Imperialis models, standing ~8mm tall. Note that the integrated round base adds another 1mm or so, making them as tall as the new marines when on flat bases (like the new Epic ones, or the tupenny bits I'm using). +

+ If that bothers you, then look for bases with recesses. Personally, I don't think this is noticeable at table-height, so unless you've intending them for display them besides other figures, it's not really a problem. +

+ Having said that, the little roundels are a personal bugbear of mine. They're hard to hide, awkward to paint around, and generally make painting more of a chore. With the increasing relevance of 3D sculpting and printing in the hobby, I hope that there's a trend to offer models both with and without the little roundels as options. I'd much prefer to paint them separately from the bases then attach them. +

Scale comparison with Legions Imperialis tanks and Marines. Note the right-hand ork base is a Nob/Warboss.

+++

+ Heroes and Villains of Armageddon +

Work-in-progress

+ There's a challenge event running for The Ashes of Armageddon, which you can read about here [+noosphericexloadlink embedded+]. In short, it's an invitation to paint up a leader or important personality for the Orks or Imperials by the end of January. +

+ I'm using the opportunity to create a General for the 7th Steel Legion Army Group, a fairly simple head swap that combines parts from the old Cadian Senior Officer model with bits from a Steel Legion lieutenant. +

+ I'm quite pleased with how he's looking, and while he's not going to win any prizes, he'll fit right in with my army. More importantly, he'll be popping his head over the trenches of Instagram to remind/spread the word about the event. +

+++

+ In other news +

+ '2023 is the year the kroot get painted', I said – and a mighty half-dozen or so emerged... Not quite the battleline! However, with the promise of a PCRC campaign gearing up, I've pulled my finger out and started painting these charismatic figures once more. +

+ My first model of the year, therefore, is a Kroot – you can see him nearly finished alongside the WIP General. +

+ Eats-the-Fingers-First is currently picking his way through the jungles of Paradise XXII, and with a geekend meetup scheduled around the start of February, I'm aiming to have at least a Kill Team completed, and hopefully a little more. +
+++

+ Some Things Are Best Left Forgotten +

+ ...and with a suitable rest and recharge, The War of the False Primarch will conclude this year. If you've not heard of this project, or fancy a refresher, there'll be a summary article up on the blog [+noosphericexloadlink embedded+] soon enough – and in the meantime I encourage you to explore the existing shadowy lore. Just watch out for the Inquisition! +

+  My aim is to add the final mysterious polish by September, in time for the (yikes) eleventh anniversary of the +Death of a Rubricist+ blog. Once again, thank you one and all for continuing to read. +

+ For Yarrick!/Waa-Ghazghkull! +

+ Your next Challenge Event: #foryarrick #waaghazghkull +

+ What is The Ashes of Armageddon project? +

+ If you're not aware of The Ashes of Armageddon, it's a standalone blog themed around The Battle for Armageddon – and specifically, the Second War, where Ghazghkull led his first invasion against the defending Steel Legion. You can catch up and find a list of articles in this handy Overview article. +

+ As usual with these standalone projects, I run occasional 'Challenge Events', each of which is an open invitation to build and paint cool models around a particular theme. These are then showcased on the blog, and used to illustrate (and inspire) the ongoing story. +

+ The first one for this project was themed around the backlines of the war, and you can see the results in this article: [+noosphericexloadlink embedded+]. The second one is starting... waitforit... now! +

+++

+ The basics +

  • Build and paint a character for the Second War for Armageddon
  • Post it to Instagram with the tag(s) #ForYarrick and/or #WaaGhazghkull
  • Do it before January 31st 2024

+++

+ Sounds fun – what's the theme this time? +

Buzuruuk da Eadbiter, by @argaastes

+ This time you're invited to create a model for one of the heroes or villains of the conflict (which is which, of course, will rather depend on your point of view!) – or in other words the characters at the heart of the conflict. +

+ Where the previous event looked at the everyman, this one challenges you to create your take on famous warriors and personalities of the Second War for Armageddon. These can be:
  • Your own Armageddon-themed characters
    • The Warboss or important member of a particular ork warband
    • Commanding officer of a Steel Legion regiment
    • A Hive Governor, Mechanicus Techpriest, Squat Landtrain commander or Legio Metalica Princeps
    • Perhaps you've read about a figure in one of the articles that's caught your imagination?
  • Characters mentioned in the lore that do not have models
  • Your interpretation of a character with a model
    • Ghazghkull Thraka himself
    • Commissar Yarrick
    • Chapter Master Marneus Calgar, Commander Dante, Mad Dok Grotsnik
+++

+ What do I need to do? +

Steel Legion General, by Sam Shand/@the_steel_legion

+ Once you have picked a character, you need to build and paint him, her or it up. There is no arbitrary standard of quality – beyond you feeling you've done your best work. +

+ The key is that the model is themed to some point in the 2nd War for Armageddon. There's a timeline here for you to browse. How you interpret this is entirely up to you. +

+ Nor does the model have to be converted – though I'd suggest that this is a great way to help put your personal spin on a character, or show a slightly different interpretation than GW's studio version. As a couple of prompts:
  • A Ghazghkull that nods more towards his original 2nd edition model than the current version.
  • Your take on a pre-Black Rage Captain Tycho
  • Mad Doc Grotsnik in his 'sergery'.
  • Sebastian Yarrick in his personal study.
  • A recreation or interpretation of one of GW's awesome artworks.
+ Other than the theme, it's up to you – you can do a single model or an entire diorama – whatever you fancy. +

+ Once you've got your model complete, you can enter by:

+++

+ How long have I got? +

+ The challenge runs from December 8th (that is, tomorrow) to January 31st 2024. +

+ Feel free to post WIPs as you go – and please do share to let as many people as possible get involved. +

+ Don't worry about treading on someone else's toes – in fact, I'd encourage multiple different interpretations of the same character. +

+ As a perfect example of the sort of thing I'm after, here's Gonzalo Gonzalez's awesome take on Commissar Yarrick – combining the claw from the original with the more dynamic Brian Nelson version:

Gonzalo Gonzalez's (@forge_of_gonfrask) awesome Yarrick conversion

+++

+ And another thing +

+ I was very pleased to be interviewed by @the_iron_within about The Ashes of Armageddon project for the German-language podcast Beim Imperator Nichts Neues [+noosphericexloadlink embedded+], so if you speak German you can here my pontifications over there. +

+ Painting the Partisans: Marines Saturnine +

+ Painting the Partisans: Marines Saturnine +

+ Warzone Pao Fung is active – read more about the challenge event in this inload [+noosphericinloadlink embedded+]. The challenge revolves around the Marines Saturnine, and today's inload looks at how to model and paint them. +

+ Silver Star (left) by me, and Marines Saturnine by Tom K +

+ Tinctures, glyphs and details +

+ Tom's tutorial at the bottom of this post handily explains how to do the underlying armour colour for the Marines Saturnine, so I'll focus on highlighting a few details that you might like to reflect in your take on this prognostic Chapter with its idiosyncratic command structure. +

+ As Partisans, the Marines Saturnine frequently bear the image of the Caputmori – the skull-headed eagle that served as the False Primarch's icon. +

+ A diagnostic detail of the Chapter is their use of hex-like scale lamellar armour. This can be cast or converted from a number of Necron models, and will go a long way to identifying the figure as belonging to the Chapter. +

+ With generally good relations with the other Partisans, the Marines Saturnine occasionally use non-standard wargear, such as this bascinet helm, perhaps inherited from the Wormwood Sons. This might provide you with some inspiration!.+

+ While the Marines Saturnine don't use a Codex-standard organisation, they still have access to all the awesome equipment of any other Chapter, so feel free to go mad with Terminators, assault marines, tanks and support of all sorts. +

+ On the heraldry in general, Index Astartes: Marines Saturnine has the following detail:
'At first sight, the alabaster of the Chapter's heraldry bears all the hallmarks of unpainted ceramite. Likewise, trim is rendered to resemble bare adamantium – or, depending on the hue, may indeed be untreated. The livery of the Marines Saturnine thus pointedly reflects their nihilistic outlook; signifying their belief that their time serving the Imperium is fleeting. To the Marines Saturnine, to decorate oneself with gaudy colours is unnecessary and ostentatious.

'The Marines Saturnine deviate extensively from Codex markings, instead using sexagesimal glyphs to denote the Sataba (their equivalent to Company) to which the Marine belongs; and entirely disregard squad insignia.'

''The Chapter symbol is an hourglass, presented upright and completely filled with sand. '

+ The hourglass symbol can be rendered in a more or less complex way. It can be almost iconic:

+ Or you can choose to render/model it more elaborately, as shown:

'For the Aegis, the Oracle and the Lamassu!'

+++

+ How to paint the Marines Saturnine +

+ghostys_neon_rust was kind enough to work up a step-by-step, so over to him:

[+exloadspool begin+]

+auth: Tom K – @ghostys_neon_rust

1. Undercoat the model with Wraithbone. Randomly sponge on Bubonic Brown (or a similar ochre colour) across the miniature.

2. Sponge on White Scar randomly across the miniature. Feel free to sponge on top of the bubonic brown; it adds depth to the mottling paint scheme.

3. Dilute Gryph Charger Grey (contrast paint) 50/50 with Contrast Medium, then cover all the power armour in it. Wick away any areas where it begins to pool.

4. Add additional wear and tear. Using where the sponged bubonic brown is a guide, add patches of black Templar, snakebite leather, or bestial brown (mid brown) across the armour. You can also use this technique to cover any tide marks that appeared during the contrast stage. Admittedly I went a little overboard on this example; less is more here.

5. Edge highlight. I mixed a combination of contrast medium diluted gryph charger grey and white scar to create an off white. Edge highlight all the armour plates, and around the edges of the wear and tear (this helps it look 3D and not painted on). You can also use this highlight paint to add scratches and other discolouration to the armour. And you’re done!

I hope this helps all of you who’re interested in either making some Marines Saturnine, or perhaps wanting to decorate Pentarchy bases with their bodies.

[+exloadspool CEASE+]

+ Weapons, lenses etc. are typically red, as you can see in the finished tutorial pict-capture:

+++

+ Good luck with your own builds and painting – and do feel free to share WIPs on Instagram or Facebook. I've done my best to make navigating things a bit easier by setting up a Linktree [+noosphericexloadlink emebdded+]. Please do spread the word by using the #riseofthelamassu and #warzonepaofung tags. +

+ Rise of the Lamassu +

Models by Tom K @ghosty_neon_rust – this is your chance to win a new Saturnine Terminator converted by Tom!

+++

+ Event – #warzonepaofung +

+ A new challenge event for + Some Things Are Best Left Forgotten +, a group project themed around the War of the False Primarch. If it's not on your radar yet, go check it out – it's full of wonderfully imaginative and grimly gothic models from hobbyists of all stripes, and it's chock-full of lore that'll be sure to inspire. +

+ I've been running periodic challenges (such as #Killthefalseprimarch), for the project. I'm pleased to say these have involved all sorts of wonderful hobbyists – and since the project has always been open to everyone, I'd love you to join in, too. +

+ This time, Tom K (@ghostys_neon_rust) has volunteered to take the reins –

Tom: After how much fun Warzone Coldforge was to see, I’ve decided I want to have a stab at running my own competition for the War of the False Primarch.

This event will run from today, February 22nd, through to the 1st of April. The aim for this event is very simple: I want to see some of the Partisan Chapter the Marines Saturnine in the wild!

+ The Marines Saturnine need you! +

+ Guidelines +

+ Over to Tom again:

  • What to do: Your task is to build and paint up a member of the Marines Saturnine chapter of Astartes as they were in the Warzone Pao Fung.
    • This is very flexible. If you want to try your hand at building one of the Oracular Order of the Marines Saturnine, for example, feel free.
    • Pentarchy-minded entrants can submit recently deceased Marines Saturnine as part of a scenic base for a Pentarchy model made for this event.
    • Everything from single models, to squads or tanks may be entered into this competition.
  • Submitting entries: Please post your entries to:
    • Instagram under the hashtag #warzonepaofung and #riseofthelamassu
    • Tag Tom on Instagram (@ghostys_neon_rust) or in the Facebook group (@Tom Knight)
  • What then? After the cut off date (1st of April) Tom and Edd (@death_of-a_rubricist) will collate the entries and pick our favourite.
  • What’s the Prize? As an incentive for participating in this competition, I will be giving out a prize for the winning entry. The winner will receive a custom-made Saturnine Terminator, built by me, for you! So if you’ve been coveting your very own Saturnine relic suit of armour like that shown off below, now’s the time to act!

+ Glittering prizes – one of Tom's awesome Saturnine Terminator conversions can be yours! +

+ I hope that's all clear, but if you've any questions, feel free to send them to me or Tom. On a personal note, I really hope this charismatic and intriguing Chapter sees some more love – the lore, scheme and modelling is full of potential. +

+ Further reading and inspiration for your models can be found by searching for the Marine Saturnine in the vaults of +Some Things Are Best Left Forgotten+ +

+ Good luck! +

+ inload: Void Barons on Coldforge +

+ Warzone Coldforge +

Becklin shivered. Water vapour hung in the air. She wondered if it was being vented from somewhere, then dismissed the thought. Another series of hard bangs, staccato and overlaying, echoed down the walkway. More pursuing Guardsmen – but distant enough to put to the back of her mind for the moment.

The scribe bleat-blurted again. This was the quietest way he could vocalise; and this the only way he could usefully draw the attention of his companions. Becklin turned to him, pointing her autorifle down towards the floor.

"What is it, Ob?" The scroll was upside-down to her eyes, so she tilted her head. Her eyes flicked back and forth between his face and his hand, as the res-papyrus scribed quickly..

+ Kleinmann-Low + the script read. +Thirteen-thirteen; occluded. Losing identity.+

Object-BN had picked up the Void Baron's battletongue quickly – unsurprising, given his profession, and Becklin had grown curiously fond of the bent old man. She nodded in comprehension.

A louder series of barks now; closer to. Becklin and Object BN flinched, but before she could even resight her rifle, Neugebauer stepped around the railing, boltgun held one-handed and outstretched. Neither had heard him approaching.

BA-BANG!

The crashes the boltgun made in the confined space were deafening. The Void Baron turned to them, his beaked helm swinging around.

'Ugly brutes on this planet. You two'd fit right in." he growled.

Becklin grinned behind her mask,

"C'mon – let's get going. Ob's found the ingress-point." She gestured theatrically. "After you, Neugabauer. Age before beauty, after all."

+++

+ Becklin, Neugebauer and Object BN +

+ You can read about the Warzone Coldforge Challenge Event, which has come to an end here [+noosphericinloadlink embedded+]. +

+ Of course, if you didn't quite hit the deadline, or have only just heard about it, then that's no problem at all. The whole Some Things Are Best Left Forgotten project is intended to inspire and enthuse, so if you want to further explore Coldforge, then please do carry on using the #warzonecoldforge tag – I'll keep an occulobe on it and continue to feed the results into the project blog. +

+++

+ In the depths of Coldforge! +

+ What does it mean to have a Primarch returned? That was the spur for me, and  what I wanted to explore with my challenge entry. After some thought, I decided one way to show this would be to have a rag-tag group; a sort of mini Inquisitor's warband, but led by a Space Marine. It would also give me the change to paint up some cool one-off models. +

+ The decision on the Chapter was tricky. I've wanted to paint up some Death Eagles (I), as we're still a bit short of those; and likewise I'm itching to try out some of the other lesser-seen Partisan schemes, like the Iron Guard, Red Fish or Jade Talons. While a Red Fish would be ideal for leading a group of non-Astartes, the others weren't well-suited. In the end, I opted for a Void Baron, as this privateer/pirate-themed Space Marine Chapter is really characterful. +

+++

+ First up then is Neugebauer, a Void Baron space marine. This Chapter are shipborne assault specialists who fell into the 'Primarch's' influence after their fiercely independent – some would argue piratical – practises led to falling out with the Imperial Navy. Simply armed with a boltgun, he's got some additional tech-deelies on his vambrace, and is carrying a meltabomb – perhaps he's some sort of demo-man specialist? +

+ To tie in with the setting, Neugebauer's wearing my interepretation of a suit of Coldforge-pattern Mark VI 'Corvus' plate, with its distinctive beak. Such is the strain on manufacturing due to demand and the rigours of warfare, the suits are fairly bare-bones as far as Power Armour goes. This one has either had supplementary rims added to help protect the joints, or its bearer kept an old set. The torso is bare of the Imperial Eagle – lots of Partisans removed it, but in this case, it may simply never have been added. Instead, the phrase 'VIXI' has been scrawled across the plate – literally this is one way of translating '16', but it can also be read as 'I have lived' (and therefore are expecting to die)' – as a mark of the Void Barons' unsentimental black humour. In a retrohammer nod, his pauldron is also marked 'Kil Kil Kil'. +

+++

+ Object BN is a scribe. I wanted to have a normally non-combatant role included in the little group, as I think it explains two things:
  • The war involves every level of Imperial society; it's not restricted to traditional soldiers. This is a struggle for the Imperium's future.
  • Even the most humble figures – perhaps especially those – might see the appeal of a new future; even if the 'Primarch's' motives and aims aren't entirely clear.
+ The figure is unmodified besides snipping off the tab so he'd fit on a tech-deck style base. The scrolls include a couple of little Easter Eggs for those following the project, and I was particularly pleased with the conceit of having cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks in the printer/copier device hanging round his neck. +

+++

+ Last but not least is Becklin, who represents the everyman in the project. Tough, resourceful and determined, she's a symbol of the baseline humans who are fighting, suffering and accomplishing things while the demigods wage their war. It's a mark of her and her comrades courage that they're willing to grab a rifle and try to make things better for those around them. +

+ The colour scheme of all three is muted. I wanted a fairly oppressive atmosphere for Coldforge, and the dingy, desaturated tones seemed to fit in quite well. Common basing, and using the same colours but in different proportions  across the three models helps to suggest they're associated, even if not uniform. +

+++

+ Just a few extra shots here. I'd love to see what you've come up with for Coldforge – remember to use the #warzonecoldforge tag on Instagram, or come and share your lore and pictures on the Facebook groups:

+ The #warzonecoldforge Challenge Event – details here [+noosphericinloadlink embedded+] is into its (perhaps significant) 11th day, and over on Instagram you'll see some lovely submissions shaping up. +

+ While I've been concentrating on Kroot, I've also found that the Challenge Events are good to periodically reinvigorate my various War of the False Primarch projects. One of the nice things about this wide-ranging project (for the uninitiated, it's a sort of community-driven modern Badab War) is that there are literally hundreds of avenues to follow, with a lot of freedom in interpretation. I wanted my contribution to Coldforge to reflect this, and so – while things remain open – I wanted to bring in a variety of different models. +

+++

+ Work in progress +

+ While the War of the False Primarch involves lots of Space Marines, the key to me is the idea of an Imperial civil war – that is, involving all parts of the Imperium. To that end, I knew I wanted to include three differents 'arms' of the Imperial forces. +

+ For much the same reason, I wanted to make sure that the underlying silhouettes would be equally at home on either side. The War of the False Primarch digs into the futility and self-defeating nature of the Imperium of Mankind, so I thought it would help hit home if they're not visually 'goodies' or 'baddies'. +

+ With these ideas in mind, I decided I'd include a Space Marine, a combatant human, and a non-combatant. The events are also a good excuse to dig through the Cupboard of Shame Opportunity and bring forth some neglected models... +

+ Pictured here are a scribe, a woman with an autogun and a space marine (and a kroot, but you can ignore him; I was just enthused about having finished painting them!). Shown here unpainted, I think this gets across the point that they could equally well be Orthodox military as Partisan (that is, supporting the High Lords of Terra or the 'Primarch'). +

+ While I've made the decision that the marine will be a Void Baron – there's a decided paucity of this awesome Chapter – I haven't yet decided on the precise nature of the other two. Again, that's one of the things I find so freeing about the project. The scribe, for example, could be painted in rust orange as a Mechanicus factotum, native to Coldforge; in deep green as a Navigatorial aide from House Methuselahn; or perhaps a Chapter serf – and even here, it'd be as easy for him to be an unwilling captive from the Orthodox Death Eagles as it would be for him to be a recovered servant of the Partisan Storm Tyrants. +

+++

+ Besides the figures themselves, I also used the excuse to paint up this little signpost. Scatter terrain? Objective? Just a cool Easter Egg addition for games set on Purefinder Chanterwick? Likely all of these things and more. +

+ ... and because I think it's rather expected of someone organising the challenge to pull their finger out a bit, I also cracked on with the Silver Stars. +

+ There are a number of the ambiguous pseudolegion in a state of mid-painting, and with their Index: Apocrypha* on the near-horizon, I wanted to make sure I had some new models to showcase. +

+ This chap needs his markings to be added, his weapons painted, and his base completed. +

+ Event – #warzonecoldforge +

+ You – yes, you – are invited to a new challenge event for + Some Things Are Best Left Forgotten +, a group project themed around the War of the False Primarch.

+++

+ Okay, I'm in; what next? Guidelines +

+ Welcome to the warfront, soldier +

+ Your challenge is:

  • Build and paint between one and three models from The War of the False Primarch, to illuminate one of the many battles that raged over planet Coldforge
  • Post a picture of – and any lore you've written for – your finished model(s) to:
  • Add some lore on your post – tell us about your model's name, character and accomplishments
  • Coldforge is a place of high-octane danger! Whether you choose to produce three squadmates or a duel between opposing champions, your models should be posed or arranged to emphasise the movement and conflict.

+ Yes, you can use existing models. +

+ The challenge begins on the 11th September at 11:02am GMT, and ends on 11th October at 02:11pm GMT. +

+ The entries will be featured on the +Some Things Are Best Left Forgotten+ blog, so please do make sure to include how you want to be credited. It's also very much appreciated if the pictures you use are square in format, or slightly landscape – the example at the top is ideal. +

+ The lore below is intended as a starting point – so don't feel constrained. Creativity is king! Despite the marine-centric nature of the top level War, the background that's been developed on this Imperial civil war has huge depth, breadth and complexity, allowing you to explore the  hidden side of the Imperium from Inquisitors to the Ecclesiarchy, and the Adeptus Mechanicus to the Imperial Guard. (There are even lots of minor xenos, should you have an aversion to squishy hu-mans.) +

+ Coldforge lore +

+ The Warzone is circled above +

'Coldforge sits corewards of the Myrean League, where the False Primarch made his fastments in the later stages of the War. A Forgeworld, it was a key strategic point that changed hands multiple times, and saw the footfalls of more than ten Chapters of the warring Astartes, innumerable Imperial Guard regiments and auxilia units.'

[//Astrocartographic Notes: [REDACTED]+]

+ Coldforge is a principal Forgeworld, covered by the typical colossal manufactories and municipal buildings you'd find anywhere in the later 41st Millennium. As the War gradually approached and then overwhelmed the region, nearly all of its manufacturing power was turned over to the in-Sector production of Space Marine Power Armour – and in particular, Coldforge-pattern Mark VI Corvus Power Armour. +

+ As a result of its key position in the conflict, Coldforge-pattern Power Armour became the single most common type of plate used by both Partisan and Pentarchy forces. +

+++

+ Starting points and inspiration +

+ Mark VI Space Marine armour? Sounds almost like the new Horus Heresy Space Marine releases would be ideal... If you picked up the boxed set, but haven't yet got any paint down, then why not put a couple aside for the project?

+ Innocence proves nothing +

+ You can build and paint your entry to represent any of the Partisan or Pentarchy Chapters. Below are links to the relevant Index Astartes, so you can find the colour schemes, logos and background – and generally froth about these Chapters, long hidden from history.

+ Of course, it's not all about Space Marines. Coldforge saw many, many other forces, from Imperial Guard, Imperial Navy, Ecclesiarchy, Skitarii, Inquisition, assassins – even civilians and militia... The civil war encompassed almost all elements of the Imperium. +
