The main reason I probably won't buy any is my general antipathy to GW's increasing (and accelerating) increase in size of everything - most of the models they make these days are ridiculously oversized and if anything I'm thinking of downscaling to 15mm 40K!!(Kym) + Warburton + (Classic40K) https://www.blogger.com/profile/17333928965917754588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2289736121428988411.post-75566288354955495362022-07-20T23:29:53.734+01:002022-07-20T23:29:53.734+01:00I'd argue that it was Disney's Snow White ...I'd argue that it was Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs which cemented the iconic image of what a dwarf looks like in the minds of the general populous (or layman outside of the hobby). In fact their design was in itself based on the works of Arthur Rackham who in turn also illustrated Tolkien's books. So you could say that Rackham is the architect of today's dwarves.Gretchinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04749813427652886687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2289736121428988411.post-61031052033487480342022-07-20T21:50:45.082+01:002022-07-20T21:50:45.082+01:00I'd add that in a Tolkienesque setting, Dwarve...I'd add that in a Tolkienesque setting, Dwarves usually exist in contrast to the Elves and Orcs. Dwarves are more down to earth and accessible than highfalutin Elves, while being more advanced than the barbaric Orcs- and it's natural that contrast gets folded into group identity through friendly jibes, rivalries or setting appropriate calls for genocide.

Is it a good thing for them to be seperate from squats? I reckon greasy engineers in leathers and space frontiersmen in light powered armour can exist as part of the same society/model range handily, in the same way that Eldar get to have their cloaked woodelf rangers and mounted knights with lances.

Something you've been very good at is modeling miniatures that are the tip of an iceberg of lore, they suggest and hint at everything beneath. I'm not seeing that with the leagues yet, but perhaps the whole range will give more contextRSF_Angelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07613461664620992536noreply@blogger.com
